Agnès Giannaros, is a half Greek, half French artist born in Athens, Greece. She grew up on the small island of Patmos before going abroad for high school.
She graduated from the Royal College of Art, London in 2019. Before her time at the RCA, Giannaros studied Visual Arts, life drawing and composition at the ESAG Penninghen in Paris, France.
Giannaros often depicts scenes of the Mediterranean life, mixing atmospheric summer scenes, a passion for textiles and the southern Mediterranean façon de vivre, which can be described as being both dreamlike and nostalgic.
A central part of her work is the depiction of men and women, without ever revealing their faces, focusing instead on what they do and the garments that they wear. These scenes evoke a sense of stillness and longing for a time that may never come back, a sense of nostalgia which is deeply embedded in Greek culture.
She lives and works in Munich, Germany.
